The Belief System
Follow what a man believes, not just what he spends. Money is the medium; belief is the motive — nobody does this thinking he is a villain. The 25,232-document corpus contains Epstein’s own emails and phone messages, and they reveal an ideology more specific, and uglier, than the tabloid “transhumanist” label: math as the only clean truth, biology as deception, human “quality” theorized by race and sex, death as an engineering problem, seduction as game theory — all laundered through elite science philanthropy, and all still running in the months before his arrest.
Math is truth. Biology is deception.
His metaphysical axiom, in his own hand, sent to John Brockman’s billionaire science list (Gates, Bezos, Musk, Venter cc’d). It is the root: if biology and society are “deception,” then moral and social norms are just noise to be decoded around. (The frame is a debased borrow from Robert Trivers’ deception-and-self-deception research — a scientist Epstein funded and corresponded with to the end.)
“Mathematics ideals are universal truths, biology is intrinsically based in deception. Predators in search of free energy would be able to decipher and consume, if it weren’t couched in a multi-layered encrypted form. Even self deception acts as a defensive strategy.”
“science is a universal truth”
A racial-cognitive hierarchy, theorized directly.
The core find. A July 2016 thread with AI researcher Joscha Bach shows Epstein did not merely absorb race-science — he originated the frame (developmental genetic “switches,” neuron culling) and pushed it. He casts himself as a cold rationalist, above “political correctness.” Note what the frame implies: human traits as parameters you could re-engineer. That is the hinge to the next layer.
“you might be able to make blacks smarter by changing the time for motor layer development… their brains are slower at learning high-level concepts.”
“the average is the only thing that matters … mathematics based thinking does not allow for censorship … political correctness [is] only [a] subset of a larger group of thoughts. it’s not emotional for me.”
“Women tend to find abstract systems, conflicts and mechanisms intrinsically boring.”
The transhumanist lane: death as an engineering problem.
The tabloid version (frozen head, DNA baby-ranch) is not in this corpus — see below. What IS here, in his own messages, is the softer and more revealing form: immortality as the destination of science, regeneration and “the singularity” as his conference fare, a claimed cancer cure — and, in the same March 2019 threads, women scheduled around the science circuit like logistics. The supply chain and the immortality project ran through the same phone, four months before his arrest.
“The film is three interwoven stories… the drive of science to work thru a basic understanding of the workings of man’s immortality; the decline of the west.”
“Only certain is my science conference… [topics floated: quantum computing, string theory, the singularity, plant research, life-regeneration]”
““Almost finished with my cure for cancer” … “Your girl flying over” … “You are going to Geneva not her — she comes to Paris maybe Sunday correct””
Seduction as game theory. Epstein as coach.
The belief system was also a service. The corpus shows powerful men bringing him their pursuit of women as an optimization problem — and Epstein coaching it: handicapping odds, staging “holding patterns,” deploying a math professor as a prop. Larry Summers debriefs a failed advance on a woman he calls his economics mentee; the coaching thread runs to within three weeks of Epstein’s arrest. Women, in this idiom, are acquisition targets with success probabilities.
“Think for now I’m going nowhere with her except economics mentor… to get her to be good probably requires more firmness than I enjoy. Think right thing is to cut off contact. Suspect she will miss it. Problem is I will too.”
“Why in my interest. Odds of success. I think another encounter at some point one third. Sustained series one fifth. Best shot for me. She gives up on marriage. Finds me invaluable and interesting…”
“On tues. I’ll have the math professor explain to you some things. And then wait until you are unable to claim your arguments were driven by the high level of pain killers… Forced holding pattern in your interest.”
The siege of accused men.
When #MeToo arrived, the circle read it not as a reckoning but as weather — a storm system tracked with box scores. Epstein counts “friends up to bat”; Wolff tallies the “whacked”; Summers finds it “scary to be a guy”; Krauss floats a conference of the publicly accused as an in-joke. The joke is a worldview: the rules that catch other men are a hazard to be navigated, not a judgment that could apply.
“Strange time I have two more friends up to bat”
“My buddy, Lorin Stein… just went down. The 80-year-old father of my friend… whacked. Big names on the horizon… I think Bannon may be right. This is not going to end until Trump goes down.”
“Scary to be a guy in today’s World.”
“A proposed “men of the world conference” — names floated include Spacey, Clinton, Franken, Woody Allen.”
Science as leverage, philanthropy as laundering.
The institutional shell for all of it. He bought proximity to genius and used it two ways: as a self-concept (the node connecting science and power) and as reputation laundering. He put ~$30M into Harvard’s Program for Evolutionary Dynamics (Nowak), funded the MIT Media Lab, Krauss, Minsky, Church, Trivers — then emailed himself rosters of his pantheon and ran PR campaigns casting himself as science’s private patron.
““radical breakthrough” — a self-emailed roster: Watson, Minsky, Church, Hillis, Gould, Gell-Mann, Geoffrey West, Summers.”
““list for bannon steve”: Seth Lloyd, Nowak, Minsky, Susskind, Krauss, Thiel, Hoffman, Joscha Bach, Joi Ito, E.O. Wilson, Chomsky.”
“Coordinating with Harvard’s Martin Nowak and a PR aide to position himself publicly as the “private donor” bridging the Trump science-funding gap — targeting Nature, Science, MIT Tech Review.”
What the corpus does not support
The discipline that separates a real read from crank material: naming what the primary evidence refutes. These sensational framings are common — and this corpus does not carry them in Epstein’s own words.
Nietzsche and Malthus appear ONLY in book excerpts and reports — his library, not a single email he wrote. No evidence he espoused either in his own voice.
The NYT-reported Zorro Ranch insemination plan does not appear anywhere in this corpus. “Zorro Ranch” hits are all the criminal case; “superior race” hits are noise from unrelated books. This corpus cannot source that claim.
Those words appear in others’ books (Hauser’s Evilicious, a fox-domestication passage) and junk forwards — library and noise, not Epstein’s voice. The nearest thing in his voice is the Bach thread’s developmental-“switch” talk — documented above, and distinct from a breeding program.
The specific cryonics claims are absent from his correspondence. But the softer form is NOT killed: immortality-as-science-project is in his own messages (the film pitch, the regeneration conference, the “cure for cancer”). Layer 03 carries what the record actually supports.
They did not think they were criminals. They thought they were a higher order of human, doing what a higher order is entitled to do. That belief is the thing to follow — more dangerous than the money, because money runs out and belief recruits.
